Admissions Arrangement Consultation For Admission Year 2025-26

As our own admissions authority, we are required under the School Admissions Code 2021 to review our admissions policies annually and to consult on our arrangements from time to time. The code requires consultation in the following circumstances:

When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements (including any supplementary information form) that will apply for admission applications the following school year.

This is the first time the Trust has gone out to consultation to apply an oversubscription criteria for all our schools. Our intention is to ensure the children of Aquila staff are treated with parity across all schools within the Trust by introducing a Children of Staff criteria in a Trust-wide policy, and by removing all faith criterion from the criteria. This aligns with the Diocese of Canterbury policy, to provide local places for local children:

 

Admission Criteria 3. Children of Staff

Priority will next be given to children of staff at the school, in either of the following circumstances:

a) The member of staff has been employed at the school for 2 or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or

b) The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage

 

In line with our duties to consult, please find a copy of our full policy and admissions arrangements attached. The policy also includes further details on all oversubscription criteria, how tiebreaker decisions are made, information on how proximity to school is calculated and information relating to deferring entry for infants.

This consultation opened on 24^th November 2023 and closed on 5th January 2024.

The Trust Board will meet soon after the closure of the admissions consultation to consider any comments. If no comments are received the policy will be recommended for determination by the Trust Board at their meeting in February 2024.
